2) Spain: A Journey of Self-Discovery (and Tapas!) on the Camino Way
The iconic Camino de Santiago trails are more than just an incredible series of hikes; it’s a pilgrimage steeped in history! The Camino is a pilgrimage to (and occasionally from) the tomb in Santiago de Compostela, Spain of Saint James the Apostle, one of Jesus Christ’s closest apostles. The Camino offers a chance to reconnect with nature, away from the stress of modern life, passing through beautiful countryside, breath taking mountains, and intriguing forests.
Solo walking women often find themselves walking alongside fellow travellers from all walks of life, sharing stories as they traverse rolling hills and charming villages. Each day brings a new challenge, a new landscape, and of course, the opportunity to indulge in mouthwatering Spanish tapas!
Why is Camino perfect for women: The Camino offers a unique blend of physical and mental challenge, allowing you to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with yourself on an unforgettable hiking holiday. The well-marked trails and readily available accommodation make it a manageable and rewarding adventure.
If you would prefer to hike the Camino with an organised group check out cancer charity Walk the Walk who organise three very different challenges along the famous Camino trails in Spain and Portugal, with every mile you complete helping support those living with breast and other cancers.
