Want to improve your physical and mental health whilst having fun doing it? Stand up paddleboarding is a fun, accessible aqua adventure & water sport for all ages. Learning to paddleboard is a great way to explore the outdoors, connect with nature whilst also getting a full body work out.
Join a day of adventure on one of our stand up paddle board lessons with other like minded women. All of our stand up paddle boarding lessons are led by qualified instructors(get to know our team) and because of our own positive experiences of learning stand up paddle boarding, we are all deeply passionate about creating a safe space to inspire & encourage other women to get into outdoor spaces and have fun.
Beginner and Intermediate Lessons
At Women Outdoors we have lessons to suit all abilities and experience levels;
Our beginner stand up paddleboarding lessons will teach you everything you need to get up and going on your paddleboard, how to turn, stop and how to get back on safely if you fall off, it happens to us all!
On our intermediate level sessions you will go on a journey and progress your skills to develop your planning, decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, taking you on the next steps towards becoming a proficient and independent paddler.

If you would like to join us but are nervous about coming on your own please know that more than half of our attendees come solo & feel the same. These nerves soon disappear as we get chatting and everyone always leaves feeling energised and uplifted, so please please don’t let coming on your own put you off!

A: Stand up paddle boarding, also known as SUP, is a popular water sport activity that involves standing up on a board and using a paddle to make your way through the water. You’ll use your arms while standing or kneeling to propel you and your board forward.
Although SUP is similar to surfing, canoeing and kayaking, you can use a paddle board for a myriad of activities such as surfing, adventuring, touring, fishing, yoga, racing, whitewater and more! Paddleboarding is like its very own adventure centre with one piece of equipment!
Q: Is paddleboarding hard?
A: Learning to stand up paddle board is one of the easiest and most relaxing water sports. To become a proficient paddle boarder is well within your grasp!
Q: How long does it take to learn paddle boarding? Do I need lessons to paddleboard?
A: Our 1.5 hour beginners stand up paddle board lesson is recommended to teach you the basic skills in how to paddle straight, turn, stand up and get back on your craft in the event you go for a swim!
Q: Where is the best place to paddleboard?
A: Where is the best place to paddleboard in the Peak District and where is the best place to paddleboard in the Lake District? I get asked all the time! The answer really depends on your ability. If you are new to paddleboarding I would recommend going on one of our beginners lessons or going to your local activity centre and joining a sup paddle board lessons. If you have the basic skills and would like to improve your abilities or you would like to socialise with like minded paddlers check out our intermediate sessions.
If you do not need standup paddling lessons and want to explore other places you can go to Go Paddle’s website to search and find places to paddle in the UK. It will tell you which canals and lakes need a license.
