Norway is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, and the country’s national parks offer some of the most stunning hiking experiences in the world. With few crowds, exceptional local cuisine, Winter Wonderland is the perfect opportunity for an unforgettable Nordic adventure.

Our accommodation is in the quiet and peaceful mountain village of Sjoa, between rivers Sjoa and Gudbrandsdalslågen. Originating from a 13th century farm, our authentic accommodation all have en-suites, free Wi-Fi, food, a bar and share a fully equipped kitchen. We can relax in the cosy TV room, which has a fireplace or sit outside and admire the views from the terrace.

A detailed itinerary will be sent to all booked guests before the event with all details needed. There will also be a WhatsApp group set up prior to the event so you ladies can get chatting before the trip!

Accommodation

Family run Sjoa hostel is scenically located in quiet and peaceful mountain village Sjoa, between the rivers of Sjoa and Gudbrandsdalslagen. Our authentic accommodation originating from a 13th century farm provides traditional cabins, en-suites, free wi-fi, food, a bar and share a fully equipped kitchen. Buffet breakfast and evening meals will be served in the main building dating from 1747. This cosy and authentic building has an open fireplace and timber walls. Our accommodation is in an excellent location based right between Rondane and Jotunheimen National Park! We can relax in the cosy TV room, which has a fireplace or sit outside and admire the views from the terrace.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to the Artic Experience 

Arrival at Sjoa, Gudbrandsdalen: Check-in at our cozy accommodation, where each room features en-suite bathrooms, fresh bed linen, and towels.

Meet & Greet: Get to know our expert guides and fellow adventurers before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner.

Cold-Weather Survival Tips: A short lesson on how to dress and move in Arctic conditions. If arrival is late, this will be covered during/after breakfast the next morning. A detailed clothing list is provided upon booking.

 

Day 2 Musk Ox Safari & Arctic Cuisine

07:30 –09:00 Breakfast

Musk Ox Safari: A one-hour scenic drive takes us to Dovrefjell National Park, where we’ll embark on a guided safari to spot these prehistoric Arctic giants. The adventure lasts 4–6 hours, depending on animal locations.

Lunch Stop: On our way back, we’ll stop at a local restaurant serving specialties like musk ox burgers. Not included in package price.

17:30 Return to Base: Time to relax, shower, and unwind.

20:00 Dinner & Briefing:  Enjoy a hearty meal while we go over the plan for the next day.

Day 3 Snowshoe Trek & Ice Fishing 

07:30 – 09:00 Breakfast

09:00 Snowshoeing & Ice Fishing: A full-day guided snowshoe trek covering approx.
10 km. Along the way, we’ll stop at a frozen lake to try traditional ice fishing.

17:00 Return to Base: Shower, relax, and warm up.

20:00 Dinner & Briefing: Another delicious meal with a preview of tomorrow’s
adventure.

Day 4 Peak Ascent & Optional Via Ferrata

07:30 – 09:00 Breakfast

09:00 Snowshoe Hike to a Nearby Peak: A breathtaking trek through winter landscapes. Weather permitting, there’s an option to climb a via ferrata for an extra thrill.

16:00 Return to Base: Time to unwind before dinner.

20:00 Dinner & Briefing

Day 5 Dog Sledding & Arctic Wellness

07:30 – 09:00 Breakfast

09:00 Dog Sledding: Experience the exhilarating rush of gliding through the snow with
a team of eager huskies.

15:00 Return to Base: Warm up and relax.

16:00 Ice Swimming, Sauna & Hot Tub: A true Nordic experience! Brave the icy waters before soaking in a hot tub under the Arctic sky.

20:00 Farewell Dinner: Celebrate an unforgettable adventure with a final feast.

By 11:00 Check-Out & Departure: Time to say goodbye, but the memories will last a lifetime!

Airport and Transfers

The closest airport is Oslo Gardermoen. There is a direct train to and from Oslo Gardmermoen airport to Otta train station (about 3 hours). Otta train station is 6 miles away (10-15 minutes) to our accommodation. A transfer from Otta train station to our accommodation is included in the price. The train ticket is not included in the price and is approximately £85 return. The co-ordination and purchase of train tickets can be organised by Women Outdoors upon request.

Sunday Arrival 

We will take the 16.30pm train from the airport getting us to Otta train Station at 19.40pm. The 19.40pm transfer to our accommodation from Otta train station is included in the price.

London Heathrow – Oslo Gardermoen – SAS  (10.35am – 1.50pm)
 
Easy Jet fly from Manchester to Oslo Gardermoen however their February 2026 schedule is not yet published and  we can not guarantee Easy Jet flights.
 
Other options to fly from Manchester are;
 
Connection flight with KLM
Manchester – Oslo Gardermoen via Amsterdam (10.40am 4.15pm). Taking the 6.30pm train getting into Otta at 9.30pm.
 
 
The above flights will give us enough time to get through the airport, grab some food and get to the train station. If you are going to take a different flight or spend a few days exploring Norway before the trip and want a different transfer time, this can be arranged at an additional charge.
 
Friday Departure 
 
We will take the 9.18am train from Otta train station into Oslo Gardermoen airport, arriving at approximately 12.25pm. The 9.18am transfer from our accommodation to Otta train station is included in the price.

Oslo Gardermoen – London Heathrow – SAS  (3pm – 4.25pm)
 
Easy Jet fly from Manchester to Oslo Gardermoen however their February 2026 schedule is not yet published and  we can not guarantee Easy Jet flights. 
 
Connection flight with KLM
Oslo Gardermoen – Manchester via Amsterdam (6.55pm – 10pm). Taking the 11.30am train getting into Otta at 2.30pm.
 

If you are going to take a different flight or spend a few days exploring Norway after the trip a different transfer to Otta train station can be arranged at an additional charge.

The Arctic winter is both breath taking and unpredictable. To ensure the best possible
experience, we may need to adjust parts of the itinerary based on weather and snow
conditions. Safety is our top priority, and our experienced guides will always assess the
