Come with us to visit the natural cavern ‘Thor’s Cave’, set in a steep limestone crag, with its huge 10 meter high and 8 meter wide arched entrance. Evidence has been found of human occupation of Thor’s Cave during the latter Stone Age, from around 11,000 years ago, with use well into the Iron Age and Roman period.  Past excavations have found stone tools, pottery, amber beads and bronze items, as well as the burial sites of at least seven people.

In addition to Thor’s Cave our route also includes a walk along a peaceful stream though woodlands and stunning views from the top of the cave out into the Manifold valley.

A really great way of trying out a Wild Camping weekend safe in the knowledge that there’s an experienced leader to hand.

I've just come back from a week in Norway, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of women to experience this trip with. There was such a supportive and encouraging atmosphere throughout, with everyone genuinely supporting each other and just wanting to see each other succeed. I loved the really wide mix of ages and backgrounds, and especially how many other solo travellers there were. A very special mention to Ros, who was an absolutely amazing host. She was so supportive and encouraging, always knowing when to give you that extra little nudge while making sure everyone felt comfortable and looked after. She created such a positive atmosphere and made the whole experience feel really special. I would 100% recommend a Women Outdoors trip, whether you’re travelling solo or with a friend, and I've already made plans for my next one!

This was my first trip with Women Outdoors UK, and it exceeded every expectation🤩The whole trip, from the accommodation, to the food, and itinerary was fab🙌🏻Ros was a fantastic host, and the group was incredible. I’ve done tNavigating steep hikes, rafting and Via Ferrata together in Norway proved to me that we are capable of doing hard things when we support each other 💪🏻 I ended up doing things I never thought I could do—highly recommend! I was nervous beforehand but I came home with new friends, and feeling empowered, confident, and excited for the next adventure 🩶

Wow! Just wow! I’ve just returned home from the hiking trip in Norway and it was absolutely amazing. The thing that stood out for me was the support and love from who were strangers to begin with, but are now friends. Women that wanted nothing more than women to achieve something they never felt possible. The encouragement from the group was very special. The hikes were beautiful, and I achieved things I never thought I would. The coordination was perfect, the hosts and guides were wonderful, and it was a trip that made me push my limits in a supportive environment, when I chose to. I highly recommend this even if solo travel is scary at first. You’ll make life long friends and have a great sense of achievement.

I went on the summer Norway trip and I cannot recommend enough!! The trip was planned to perfection, the accommodation and setting was incredible. The whole trip was a laugh a minute from start to finish with the most supportive and loveliest group of women. The hikes could be challenging but there was often alternative slightly easier options, so don’t be put off if you think something might be too much for you. Ros our group leader was the most amazing inspiring woman. Ros has an incredible way of making you feel comfortable and being encouraging to push people out of their comfort zone whilst also knowing where their limit is, she was wonderful! I was expecting to have an amazing time but the trip fully exceeded my expectations. I will absolutely be booking another WOD trip again!!

I booked the Norway trip 1 week out from arrival date and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The trip had options for varying fitness levels, a big array of activities, and wonderful guides. It was a super easy to book and a fun way to tour around a country! I’m 25, had a blast with my crew of women and would recommend to those wanting to get outside or simply not plan a trip!

I was quite nervous about doing a thru-hike with a group of women I didn’t know, but I needn’t have worried! It was an amazing experience with supportive, kind, generous, funny and patient women with whom it was a privilege to walk Hadrian’s Wall. Our trip leader Megan is a true heroine - we could not have finished the 84 miles without her expertise, encouragement and guidance. The trip and our achievements are up there with the things that I am most proud of in life, and at 61, that’s saying something! I can’t recommend Women Outdoors highly enough - it has done wonders for my confidence and I hope that I meet the ladies again in future hikes! Truly brilliant.

I’ve had a wonderful day at Derwent Reservoir and Slippery Stones. Very well organised. Lots of info and comms before the event. We were very well looked after by Megan and the feel of the day was relaxed, warm and supportive.
