This route passes through some beautiful terrain and offers breath taking views from the summit. On this walk we will visit and explore the wreckage of a former aeroplane crash site known as the “Bleaklow Bomber” which is located just beyond Greater Manchester’s boundaries, concealed on the hills above Glossop. The US Air Force aircraft, known as “Over Exposed,” crashed here in 1948, and today, much of the debris is still dispersed across the moors of Bleaklow, along with a moving memorial plaque.
Many residents and visitors are utterly unaware that the Peak District is also home to this historical monument, despite the fact that it is well known for its extensive collection of outdoor delights to explore.
After a lunch stop (and trigpoint shots) we will make our way to Higher Shelf Stones where we will take in more breath taking Dark Peak sceneries before making our way downhill and back to the car park whilst taking in more valleys, rivers, and waterfalls to keep our cameras active.
All of our hiking leaders hold the relevant qualifications and have heaps of knowledge on the plants, landscapes and history of our national parks. The leader will create a WhatsApp group before the event providing all the information you need and you ladies can also use the group to organise car share and get to know each other.

A really enjoyable experience- challenging, but still manageable. Our guide Laura was considerate of everyone’s needs and also extremely knowledgeable about the area and geography/geology in general.Posted on Google Lauren ATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend the navigation course set in Edale! A great way to meet new people through a shared experience - brilliant day learning the basics of map reading and using a compass to navigate. A real sense of satisfaction learning a new skill and putting it to use!Posted on Google Jen AkhurstTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic trip to Norway, many amazing memories madePosted on Google Michele RenderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had an amazing week in Norway with Women’s Outdoors Uk. 20 women started the week as strangers and ended the week as friends. I came as a single person and felt comfortable from the start. Everyone encouraged each other to do the best they could. So many laughs along the way. Amazing day trips that were challenging but we were rewarded with a sense of achievement and amazing views. From ice fishing to dog sledding to climbing mountains it was a fantastic experience. Accommodation was great with Camilla and Ole the hosts. They were friendly welcoming and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They were also great guides and very knowledgeable on their area. Emma was as always amazing. So friendly and helpful and had a done an amazing job organising this trip . Nothing was overlooked. This is my second abroad trip with Women’s Outdoors Uk and it didn’t disappoint. I would highly recommend giving them a try . Can’t wait for my next adventurePosted on Google Helen WoodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been back a few days from the Norway Winter trip and had the most amazing time. Sjoa is such a stunning, friendly, welcoming place and the venue could not have been more perfect. The trip was very well organised from start to finish and the activities included were brilliant. The dog sledding in particular is a breath-taking experience. If you want to be pushed outside your comfort zone but at an accommodating pace, I can not recommend this trip enough.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
