Come and join Women Outdoors hike up Snowdon (or Yr Wyddfa to use its Welsh name) for a challenging but rewarding opportunity to gain some perspective on this remarkable landscape. See spectacular views with our expert Mountain Leader teaching you all about the mountain, its plants, conservation and it’s history.
The Sunday morning before you head home your Mountain Leader will take you for a gentle ‘wild flower walk’ around Cwmffynnon and Moel Berfedd. We will unravel the secrets of alpine plants, explore their formation, discover why Snowdonia is their ideal habitat, and delve into rich local history of the landscape. Experience the charm of Snowdonia’s mini mountain nestled beneath the majestic shadow of Yr Wyddfa.
A detailed itinerary will be sent to all booked guests before the event, with all details needed to attend the weekend. There will also be a WhatsApp group set up prior the event so you ladies can organise car share and get chatting before the weekend trip!
The price does not include lunch and evening meals. For options on evening meals read below.
Accommodation: YHA Snowdon Pen-Y Pass
Pen-Y Pass YHA has dramatic and breath taking views of the mountains landscapes. Newly refurbed the accommodation is at the foot of Snowdon with a fantastic restaurant and bar.
Women Outdoor ladies will have private rooms with a maximum of 6 ladies per room.
If you would prefer not to share a room you can book your own private room with an additional supplement charge below. These rooms are subject to availability and because YHA accommodation do get booked up quickly it is highly recommended that you book it as early as possible.
There is no car parking at this hostel, but there is parking across the road which you will need to book and pay for in advance as there are limited spaces available. Our recommendation is to park in Llanberis and at Nant Peris and get the park & ride bus. Further details om parking will be shared in the Whatsapp group prior the event.

Itinerary
Day 1 Friday
5pm onwards: Check in to the accommodation and meet your fellow Women Outdoors guests
6:30pm: Welcome from your Mountain Leader
7.30pm: Dinner at YHA Pen-Y Pass. Evening meals can either be ordered and paid for on arrival YHA Evening Menu or alternatively you can cook your own meal in the fully equipped self catering kitchen. A menu will be sent out prior to the event.
8.00pm: Get to know each other, relax with a book or head to the bar!
Day 2 Saturday
8.30am: All you can eat breakfast at YHA Pen Y Pass
9.30am: Set off for the climb up Snowdon. The hike will be approximately 6 hours (including a stop for lunch)
3.30pm: Back to YHA Pen Y Pass to shower and celebrate completing the days climb! The relax or head to the bar.
6pm: Dinner. Evening meals can either be ordered and paid for on arrival YHA Evening Menu or alternatively you can cook your own meal in the fully equipped self catering kitchen. A menu will be sent out prior to the event.
7pm: Saturday games night!
Day 3 Sunday
7.30am: All you can eat breakfast at YHA Pen Y Pass
9am: Check out and head to Cwmffynnon and Moel Berfedd which is on the door step of the YHA Pen Y Pass. The morning will consistent of a guided light walk where you will find wild flowers, herbs and be taught about the alpine plants, their formation, why Snowdon is their ideal habitat, and the history of the landscape.
12:00 noon: Stop for lunch to take in the last views of Snowdonia
12:30 Say our goodbyes & depart!
Payment & Booking
Option 1: Pay in full £199
Option 2: Pay instalments
– 1st instalment 25% deposit (£50).
– 2nd instalment, the remaining balance (£149), due 90 days prior the event.
Please note that deposits are non refundable.
What do I need to bring with me?
Walking boots: waterproof and breathable hiking boots with good ankle support
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and prevent blisters
Water: Bring plenty of water. At least 1 litre of water for Snowdon
Medication: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor aliments etc
Day Rucksack: something comfortable to wear, 20 litres+
Waterproof bags: keep spare clothing, electronics and anything else dry even when your rucksack leaks by using ziploc type food bags or outdoor activity waterproof bags.
Comfortable clothing: bring layers to let you adapt quickly to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (t-shirt) and a mid layer (micro fleece) and outer layer (jacket)
Trousers: no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry. On a warm day shorts are ok.
Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry.
Snacks: bring biscuits, energy bars, gels, bananas, chocolate or dried fruit for example. Put them in an easy reach area.
Food: bring food for lunch on Saturday and evening meals if you wanted to use the self catering facilities
Hat or cap: stay warm in the winter and shaded in the summer
Sunscreen: can be useful even on cloudy days
Towel: towels are not provided at the YHA
Swimsuit: Please bring a swimsuit for paddleboarding, all other equipment will be provided.
