Come and join Women Outdoors hike up Helvellyn for a challenging but rewarding opportunity to gain some perspective on this remarkable landscape. See spectacular views with our expert Mountain Leader teaching you all about the mountain, its plants, conservation and it’s history.
Whether you are a complete beginner looking to get into Paddleboarding or wanting to improve your existing skills, the following day we will have a paddleboarding lesson to suit all capabilities and explore the beautiful Ullswater. Wild swimming is permitted in Ullswater for those that would like to take a dip.
A detailed itinerary will be sent to all booked guests before the event. There will also be a WhatsApp group set up prior the event so you ladies can organise car share and get chatting before the weekend trip!
The price does not include lunch and evening meals. For options on evening meals read below.
Accommodation: YHA Helvellyn
Situated in a unique spot, 963ft up one the UK’s largest mountains, YHA Helvellyn is quite the base for hiking Helvellyn and equally to relax in the peace and quiet that such an area can offer. Our accommodation is remote
Women Outdoor ladies will have private rooms with a maximum of 6 ladies per room. Private rooms are available (see below).

Itinerary
Day 1 Friday
5pm onwards: Check in to the accommodation and meet your fellow Women Outdoors guests
7.30pm: Dinner at the accommodation. If you will arrive in time for dinner an evening meals can either be ordered (Emma will collect your order & dietary requirements prior to the weekend) or alternatively you can cook your own meal in the fully equipped self catering kitchen. A menu will be sent out prior to the event.
8.00pm: Get to know each other, relax with a book or head to the bar!
Day 2 Saturday
Helvellyn Route
Difficulty Level: Challenging (for our difficulty level descriptions CLICK HERE)
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation: 824m (2705ft)
Time: 6-7 hours (9am – 3-4pm)
7.30am: All you can eat breakfast at YHA Helvellyn
8.30am: Set off for the climb up Helvellyn. The hike will be approximately 6 hours (including a stop for lunch)
2.30pm: Back to the accommodation to shower and celebrate completing the days climb! Then relax, head for a wild swim, a paddle or head to the bar.
6.30: Dinner. Evening meals can either be ordered (Emma will collect your order & dietary requirements prior to the weekend) or alternatively you can cook your own meal in the fully equipped self catering kitchen. A menu will be sent out prior to the event.
7pm: Saturday games night & watch the sunset.
Day 3 Sunday
7.30am: All you can eat breakfast at YHA Helvellyn.
8.15am: Check out and head to Ullswater for paddleboarding
9am 0r 10:30am: Paddleboard lesson
Noon: There will be time for a wild swim after paddleboarding for those wish to do so and then it will be time to say our goodbyes & depart!
The WhatsApp group will remain open so people can stay in touch with each other and arrange meets ups.

Payment & Booking
Option 1: Pay in full £229
Option 2: Pay instalments
– 1st instalment 25% deposit (£59).
– 2nd instalment, the remaining balance (£170), due 90 days prior the event.
Please note that deposits are non refundable.
A private room can be booked for a supplement of £75 per night (£150) for the two nights stay. This can be booked below. If you would like a private room it is advised that you book this sooner rather than later as the accommodation gets booked up quickly.
What do I need to bring with me?

Wetsuit: If you would like to wear a wetsuit for paddleboarding you can bring your own or hire one for £10. Emma will organise & recommend wetsuit hire via the WhatsApp group closer to the time when we can see what the weather doing! If wetsuits are not needed, a swim suit and comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting wet will be fine (shorts, leggings, t-shirts).
For paddleboarding you can leave your belongings and car keys in a locker at the changing facilities or put your keys in Emma’s dry bag.

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do Contact Us
